Chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie

When you workout but want something sweet but need a little protein but wanna give yourself a lil treat all at once – this is the go to!!

The first time I had something like this was in a lil cafe in San Francisco that I'd go to when I was still somewhat new to the city. This was likely around 2014. I was training heavily, I lived right next to Baker Beach in the Presidio, and I was always hungry. Okay I’m still always hungry. There was this place (that eventually closed down) that offered a smoothie similar to this one, and they'd blend it cold as fuck, and I'd bike to it just to sit down and sip it through a straw like it was heaven.

If possible, I keep a chocolate protein powder on hand explicitly for this one smoothie. I don't really eat bananas these days, but I will for this smoothie.

Into the blender:
  • Ice cubes, necessary for consistency
  • Banana, not too ripe, not too unripe. Potentially only half.
  • A chocolate protein powder. Make sure it has a significant and true and courageous portion of cacao. This is where the chocolate comes from. You’re welcome to approach this differently, but it’s how I do it.
  • Nice big wad of Crunchy and unsalted peanut butter
  • A milk of some kind, ideally one more nutty or neutral in taste
  • Water
  • Optional: a tiny bit of sugar or sweetener, if you have more of a sweet tooth:)

Blend to perfect consistency. Serve in insulated cup plus a nice boba straw.
